Fans will be allowed to choose their new seats for the men's and women's basketball games and learn more about the improvements to Marist's campus. Both the men's and women's basketball teams will be on hand to greet fans and students and encourage them to buy tickets and come to the games.
Some of the improvements to the McCann Center include a new court floor, and addition of two practice courts, the installation of chair back seating on the east and west sides of the arena, the expansion of new end zone seating as well as new video scoreboards. This is the biggest renovation to the McCann Center since the original basketball court was donated by Marist standout and former NBA All-Star Rik Smiths a 1988 graduate.
The first basketball game in the newly renovated McCann Arena will be November 16th when the Marist women take on the Villanova Wildcats. The last time these two teams met was last year when the Red Foxes traveled to Pennsylvania and beat the Wildcats 71-60. The men open in the McCann Arena Tuesday November 22nd when we host Bucknell University . As I enter my senior season as a manager for the men's basketball team, I look forward to getting the most out of this arena and create memories that will last a life time.
It would be a great showing for Marist, the McCann Center and our Athletic Department if you could join us and cheer our women's basketball team to another victory over a Big East team on November 16th. Please help spread the word today!
